After consulting their financial advisor and Brad Blandin, Bon Secours Mercy Health Foundation’s Vice President of Charitable Estate & Gift Planning, they chose to donate the stock to the Foundation to fund a charitable gift annuity (CGA).

Carol’s Story

Carol Penson is a Southern gal who rides motorcycles and tells it like it is. When her husband Dan was struck by lightning in 2006, they had never been to a doctor before - which means they didn’t have insurance.

Cathy’s Story

Cathy started volunteering at Mercy Health about 15 years ago after retiring from teaching. She started in the gift shop then added more hours at the front information desk. She’s also very involved in the hospital’s Auxiliary which raises money through functions and events.
